Scope of work for Dijkstaal:
Designing, supplying, “stuffing” (packing in containers) and 3rd party inspections of the steel roof constructions for the new construction of 4 hospitals.
Our work consists of the supply of 90 tonnes of steel in S355 quality and equipped with a multi-layer preservation system, supplemented with:
• Purlins;
o Approx. 10,000m¹ cold formed C-profiles in S460 quality.
• All roof and facade cladding;
o Approx. 11,500m² roof, made of 35/1035 thick 0.70m Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra, White
o Approx. 2,300m² gutter and facade finish, executed in sheet pile 25/107, partly perforated
o Approx. 2,700m² gutter finish, made of aluminum composite panels
o Approx. 1,300m² sheeting
Vamed has carried out this project to strengthen medical capacity in Northern Sri Lanka through the turnkey construction and equipment of 2 district general hospitals and 2 basic hospitals in Mankulam, Point Pedro, Vavuniya and Kilinochchi respectively.
Vamed is building these hospitals with financial support from the DRIVE program. Invest International carries out DRIVE on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Development Related Infrastructure Investment Vehicle (DRIVE) of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs is contributing more than €15 million to the project. The construction project started at the end of 2019. It will cost 55 million euros and will be completed in 2022.
The goal of the project is to develop facilities in the Northern Province, which, after the recovery of the conflict resolved in 2009 is now in need of modernization of the healthcare infrastructure.
These four hospitals have the capacity to treat approximately 68,000 additional patients. Approximately 1.25 million people live in the area.
