Transformation

Now that we as a society are more aware of how we use building materials, transformations and renovations, and therefore reuse, are a good step in the direction of better managing our planet and its raw materials.

Living & Working

Over the years, we have provided a lot of steelwork for transformations. For example, we see many office buildings that are given a residential destination, for permanent residents or temporarily, such as student housing. Or business/government buildings that are given a completely new commercial or government destination. Or buildings that are so outdated that they need to undergo a very thorough renovation.

Examples include:

  • Internal steel: in order to be able to break through certain walls, other parts must be reinforced;
  • Stairwells and elevator shafts: in order to be able to place the desired stairs and elevators;
  • Extension: to generate more space;
  • Superstructure: sometimes multiple floors are added to existing structures;
  • Balconies: the production and installation of balconies to provide the new homes with an outdoor space.

Rooftop Extensions

A rooftop extension involves much more than simply adding extra square metres. It requires smart engineering, careful planning and strong collaboration between all parties involved.

That is why we at Dijkstaal believe in early involvement within the construction team. By thinking along during the design phase about the structure, feasibility and assembly, we can provide practical solutions for a smooth and efficient construction process.

A rooftop extension means building within an existing situation. This requires careful consideration of the current structure, load-bearing capacity and accessibility. Thanks to our experience with transformation projects, we know how important preparation, communication and flexibility are in this process.

Steel is highly suitable for rooftop extensions due to its relatively low weight and high strength. Components can be prefabricated in our own workshop, ready for assembly, allowing installation on site to be carried out quickly, accurately and with minimal disruption.

From engineering and production to delivery and assembly: Dijkstaal takes care of the complete steel construction process.
